Ukraine lives through difficult time these days. Or rather – these last years. However, we are still keeping our heads up hoping, hoping and hoping again. Hoping for changes, hoping for understanding and support from anyone willing to give it, but in the meantime we have to stick together and carry on. Through the financial crisis, through the unstable policy and rotten till the core soviet mentality, which took away the instinct to seek the solution to our troubles on our own without waiting for the magical help coming from the despotic government. But above this all – carrying through the terrible time of the war, which ruins the country, ruins families and holds back the positive future we are waiting for. The Independence Day for us is not a simple date anymore. It became a symbol of our fight and a proof that we survive despite anything.

For the 25th anniversary of Ukrainian Independence, we went to assist to the military parade in Kyiv and to look at the people, who fight this war for us and who fight this war with us.

Portraits of people like you and me.
