May 2020

This will be a very short article about a very pleasant memory. The virus locked the whole world down for two months and even if we enjoyed every day of these two months , we were really looking forward to going out just for a little bit. So this tiny and uneventful trip (can we actually call it a trip?) or rather a day out of Pau felt like rediscovering the world from scratch. In two months our travel muscle (let alone the photography muscle…) went weak and we desperatly needed a rehabilitation.

So, we rented a car and drove to Capbreton, which would be our first visit to Landes together. In three months we would come back for a much longer stay, which would become the highlight of the year, but then it was like feeling the water to check whether it was warm enough. Due to the restrictions we could only eat some take out, which after two months of home food tasted like a masterpiece from a Michelin restaurant (not that we are bad cooks, mind it!)

A quick reminder that we came to France directly from Jordan and the virus restrictions didn’t let us go back to London and get our stuff. So two months in a row we were dressed in the same clothes. God how much I hated those shorts and that shirt. 😅

I didn’t find Capbreton very attractive, especially knowing how beautiful Landes can be. Still, it felt like one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Preparing this article brought wonderful memories and it’s one of the few things that make our lives bearable at this horrible time of war in Ukraine. 2020 seemed bad to many people, but I would give a lot to bring it back.
