March 2021

It was March and we were already under a lot of pressure with our renovations that required loads of time, energy and money. So, in order to diversify those days, we tried to make an attempt of a weekly escapade around Toulouse. Even if during the pandemic it was not always easy, I’m pretty happy with everything we did in 2021. Yes, this trip happened in March but I’m typing these words from July 2022, when the fatigue from the hard physical work was the least of our problems. Anyway, this is the last article about our 2021 adventures. Hurrah!

Saint-Félix-Lauragais

Now, when the pandemic is over (or at least it was squeezed out of people’s mind by the war), masks on the streets look weird, but this is a good reminder for history – this is how we traveled for two years in a row.

Bassin de Saint-Ferréol

Later this year we will go to Marseillan, where we saw the end of Canal du Midi – the famous channel that starts in Toulouse and ends in the Mediterranean sea. Here, however, around Revel is another important spot for the Canal du Midi history – here lived its architect Pierre-Paul Riquet. The lake itself is a water reservoir for possible channel’s irregularities, but apart from that, it is also a beautiful place lost in nature.

Revel

I was surprised to discover that Revel is also the birthplace of the mint alcohol drink Get. It’s been 7 years that we struggle to finish our bottle so it was a good reminder of our duty. 😅

Castelnaudary

Our last stop was in Castelnaudary where we bought a proper portion of cassoulet and then almost died of happiness. Even if we banned meat from our daily consumption, sometimes it feels so damn good.

That’s it. It’s not the kind of huge mind-blowing journeys, but we love every single trip of ours, because they are always filled with beauty and love. Despite the nasty weather and pandemic.
